Cumbria

Cumbria is currently progressing through the Government’s Devolution Priority Programme, with local councils working together on plans for a potential mayoral combined authority. While this process is still underway, we’re committed to supporting Cumbria’s CVS infrastructure and ensuring the VCFSE sector has a voice in any devolution discussions or emerging asks.

Cumbria has a vibrant and diverse sector, made up of around 2,500 registered VCFSE organisations, alongside an estimated 2,000 additional community groups. Nearly half of these organisations are micro-sized, with an annual income under £10,000, while a small number operate at a much larger scale. This rich mix reflects the sector’s deep local roots and its essential role in community life across the county.
