Cheshire and Merseyside VCFSE Health and Care Transformation Programme Progress Report (July 2025)

This progress report highlights how voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations are working in partnership with NHS Cheshire and Merseyside to improve health and care outcomes across the region.

It showcases the first three years of the Transformation Programme, led by Voluntary Sector North West (VSNW), and details how the VCFSE sector is helping deliver key priorities from the NHS 10-Year Plan including prevention, neighbourhood health, care closer to home and more inclusive services.

The report outlines how the programme has strengthened the sector’s voice, supported collaboration through the VCFSE Alliance, and enabled more joined-up working across the nine local ‘places’ in Cheshire and Merseyside. It also shares practical examples of impact, from hospital discharge and early cancer detection to volunteering, mental health transformation, and support for carers and children.

This report makes a clear case for continued investment in the sector’s role as a trusted, local partner in designing and delivering better health and care.
