The following projects have benefited from Reaching Communities awards:
Ashton under Lyne - Making a Difference - Tameside run a centre called The Workshop which is open four days a week for service users to participate in a variety of small group activities designed to increase their confidence and for one to one sessions. This service is aimed at adults affected by acute, chronic and long term mental health issues. £56,000
Oldham /Cheetham - Upturn Enterprise Limited will get residents involved in estate management priorities, engaging some as volunteers and trainees to deliver the work and learn new skills. The volunteers will be managed by experienced estate managers to provide more pleasant, secure and more useable environments for the residents and in doing so will benefit from training, qualifications, work experience and related job prospects. £323,168
Keswick - a development grant goes to Threlkeld Village Hall Trust for professional fees ahead of the development of a new village hall. £22,820
Blackburn with Darwin - Care Network (Blackburn with Darwen) puts vulnerable people in touch with quality assured service providers such as gardeners, decorators and cleaners. £300,000
Manchester - the Hideaway Youth Project receives a grant to continue its work with young people aged between 11 and 25 in the Moss Side area of Manchester. It will support individuals when facing difficulties at school and help them to access training and employment. The project will also run a range of healthy activities and aims to divert young people away from gangs. £393,661
