2011 peer evaluation shows VSNW continues to provide valuable support

The peer evaluation, carried out by One East Midlands, was commissioned by VSNW to assess continued progress against existing aims and objectives and to review work carried out to address recommendations made in the 2010 review carried out by Voluntary Organisations' Network North East. The evidence included the results of a survey of VSNW members, interviews with a range of stakeholders and a staff survey. 

The report summary confirms that '...research and analysis of evidence shows continued progress against the specific requirements of the BASIS funding, despite a difficult and fast changing operating climate. VSNW have adjusted their delivery approach well in order to provide a continued and valuable service that meets the current needs of VCS networks.

Stakeholders have continued to be overwhelmingly positive about VSNW and its work. In particular the specific role in linking statutory stakeholders and decision makers with VCS networks is greatly valued by both parties in an increasingly fragmented operating environment.'

Richard Caulfield, Chief Executive of VSNW, said 'Given the current environment affecting the sector, we are really pleased that this evaluation has shown a high level of support for our work representing the voluntary and community sector in the North West. The results of the evaluation show that we have continued to meet our core purpose and objectives well and have managed to tailor our approach to meet changing requirements across the region.  

VSNW will continue to represent and support the sector in the challenging times ahead, in line with our core values of accountability, knowledge and equality, and will address the recommendations made in the report that can assist with this.'
