The Leadership 20:20 Commission, hosted by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), has launched five challenging recommendations on what needs to be done to engage a new generation of civil society leaders. Each recommendation will be delivered by a Champion organisation, and Skills - Third Sector have been chosen to deliver the ‘development framework’.
The development framework will help future leaders develop their skills through a rich mix of opportunities that enhance and consolidate their practice. It will include both formal training recommendations and advice on informal development opportunities such as pairing established leaders with emerging leaders, mentoring and coaching, secondments, and organisations working together on staff development programmes.
At the recent launch at a Civil Society APPG reception in the House of Commons, the Commission’s President, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Skills - Third Sector as a Champion for our recommendation on a sector-wide development framework. I look forward to working with them, and the rest of our Champions, in implementing these recommendations.”
