Urban Forum, NAVCA, VSNW and local partners are running four FREE events in the North West to help communities and VCS groups understand the new Community Rights contained in the Localism Act 2011. The Bill received royal assent yesterday.
Each stand-alone event will prepare groups for the practicalities, opportunities and challenges of the rights within the Localism Act 2011. We want to support inclusion and equality in how the new rights are taken up; focusing in particular on the needs of communities who currently lack power.
'Community Rights Made Real' events in the North West:
6th December 2011, Burnley - local partners: Burnley Pendle and Rossendale CVS, Lancashire Association of CVO, and Preston Community Network
13th December 2011, Manchester - local partner: Manchester Metropolitan University
7th March 2012, St Helens - local partner: St Helens CEN
14th March 2012, Tameside - local partner: T3SC
Each standalone event will be highly participative and will cover the following themes:
