Voluntary Sector North West
St. Thomas Centre
4 November 2011
There has never been a more critical time for the North West's voluntary sector to think strategically about its future. The coalition government is making significant changes to the delivery of public services through decentralisation and localism, and of course through significant reductions in funding. The promotion of the Big Society is aiming to involve people, charities, the private sector and the voluntary sector in contributing more to their communities.
This programme has been developed specifically for voluntary and third sector organisations. It has been highly praised by voluntary sector leaders & managers across Lancashire who have participated in the programme. A case study is available.
There are four stand-alone modules:
Strategic Business & Financial Planning in Voluntary and Third Sector Organisations
Managing People in Voluntary and Third Sector Organisations
Networks, Partnerships and Stakeholder Relations
Voluntary Sector Governance
PG Certificate in Voluntary Sector Management
Complete 3 modules from the above and you will be awarded this professional qualification. Funding is available for each individual module. Participants have the option to complete the full PG Certificate in Voluntary Sector Management which is also funded by the Big Lottery.
The programme is open to ALL voluntary, community, faith and third sector organisations across the North West including their trustees, directors, managers, staff and volunteers. The minimum entry requirements are basic maths and english along with a degree or equivalent. Alternatively you may submit a 750 word essay outlining your rationale for joining the programme.
The programme is delivered by Edge Hill University at locations in Blackpool and Chorley. Please note that all study must start by Jan 2012 and be completed by 30 September 2012.
The final phase of the Big Lottery funding for the 'Turbo-Charging Skills' programme has now begun. It's important to use this opportunity to help get you and your organisation prepared for the future. The Big Lottery is currently funding between 70%-90% of the costs to meet this programme.
