Relaunch of the North West Equality & Diversity Group

5 September 2011

The North West Equality & Diversity Group (NWEDG) has now become part of VSNW’s range of network support. Its focus is to give emphasis to how the voluntary and community sector can work with partners from other sectors to build momentum on the policy agenda relating to equalities and diversity.  A key part  of NWEDG’s work is to deliver network meetings to encourage and enable information exchange between organisations supporting equalities groups across the region.

The next NWEDG meeting to re-launch the network will take place on 20 September at 2pm at the British Council Office in Manchester. Guest speakers include Olivia Butterworth, The Department of Health’s Big Society lead, Joanne Marvell also from the Department of Health, Tista Chakravarty-Gannon from General Medical Council and Jane Franklin from the British Council.

Louise Barry, Chief Executive of Merseyside Disability Federation and Paul Martin OBE, Chief Executive of The Lesbian and Gay Foundation are Co-Chairs of the group and Flick Harris, Chair of Manchester Disabled People's Access Group is Vice Chair.

In order to ensure a balance of equality perspectives and specialism, the event is invitation-only and places are strictly limited. If you would like to attend the September meeting, to subscribe to updates by email or for further information about NWEDG activities please contact Rosina Ndukwe, Secretariat for NWEDG at: rosina@merseydisability.org.uk.
