Following the Minister for Civil Society's request for further detail concerning third sector (VCS) engagement in the Work Programme, VSNW held the first meeting of North West Third Sector Work Progamme providers.

Representatives from 12 organisations involved in the Work Programme, attended the meeting in Manchester on 4 August.

• The level of contract liability and risk being passed down to Third Sector delivery organisations
• The expense of complying with Prime Contractor’s security requirements
• Delivery organisations not being paid appropriately for the interventions they provide
• The impact on organisations’ Charitable Objectives of the activities they are being asked to undertake for the Work Programme

Participants highlighted a range of challenges and concerns that will be escalated to the Office for Civil Society as well as the Department for Work and Pensions. 

It is likely that we will again pull together a group of providers in order to further assess Third Sector engagement in the Work Programme.
