The Cabinet Office has confirmed that its consultation on voluntary sector infrastructure bodies will be launched later this Autumn, put back from the Autumn date initially outlined in the Cabinet Office Structural Reform Plan.
At a meeting of the all-party parliamentary group on civil society and volunteering, held in the House of Commons earlier this month, Nick Hurd MP, the Minister for Civil Society, said funding for infrastructure was likely to be cut, regardless of the outcome of the Comprehensive Spending Review.
Hurd has also confirmed that government will publish a white paper on reforms to public service commissioning this autumn; the proposals will include longer-term, outcome-based contracts and allow charities and social enterprises that bid for government contracts to earn a return on their investment.
