New apprenticeships for VCS organisations

Expanding apprenticeships is a large part of the agenda for reforming the UK skills system: the coalition government invested an additional £150 million into apprenticeships within ten days of coming to power.
Skills-Third Sector has carried out an extensive consultation with a wide range of organisations to determine the needs of the voluntary and community sector around apprenticeships. It will now be developing four new apprenticeship frameworks as a result. These are:
► fundraising
► campaigning
► managing volunteers
► project / development work
These frameworks are likely to be available in Spring/Summer 2011. For more information about apprenticeships you can read this briefing from Skills -Third Sector on apprenticeships and the voluntary sector.
Skills-Third Sector are also looking for case studies. If you employ an apprentice in your organisation and would like that aspect of your work to be showcased on their website, in a future publication and through their networks, please email apprenticeships@skills-thirdsector.org.uk.
