The Future Jobs Fund in Greater Manchester
26 April 2010
The Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) is looking to develop its links with third sector organisations to enhance the variety of opportunities available under the Future Jobs Fund.
The AGMA Future Jobs Fund is aimed at helping the young people of Greater Manchester get onto the employment ladder, train towards qualifications and ultimately gain the skills required to gain sustainable employment for the future. More than 8000 new jobs will be created across Greater Manchester; each for six months, paid at national minimum wage and including 1 ½ days of training per week to enable the individual to develop new skills.
The young people who are eligible for these jobs are aged 18-24 and have been unemployed for around 6 months. Many have been unable to gain employment since leaving School/College, some have been hit by the recession and a small number are graduates struggling to compete in the current climate.
