Third Sector inclusion in 4NW: Regional Leaders' Board
16 March 2010
As part of the implementation of the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009, VSNW has written in support of 4NW's model of a Leaders' Board for the North West that incorporates social, economic and environmental partners (SEEP) alongside strong local authority representation. The North West is the only region proposing a model that would include a representative from the third sector.
VSNW response: A Leaders' Board accountable to the North West
As part of the ongoing implementation of the Sub-national review, the Leaders' Board replaces the old regional assembly model of regional governance.
VSNW also asked 4NW: the regional Leaders' Board to consider:
- measures to ensure a strongly accountable Regional Strategy Team
- continued inclusion of SEEP members in 4NW's sub-groups
- continuation of the Review and Scrutiny sub-group
- broader membership of the regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (NWIEP)
and provided a brief outline of VSNW's work to support accountable third sector representation.
