Breakthrough UK Independent Living Awards

Breakthrough UK Ltd is inviting nominations for its Independent Living Awards, which highlight and celebrate commitment to the independence of disabled people. Awards will be made to organisations that can evidence innovation and
commitment beyond what is currently accepted as good practice.

Nominations, including self-nominations, are sought for the following categories, some of which are based on the “Seven Needs of Independent Living”, as originally drawn up by Derbyshire Coalition of Disabled People.
• Accessible Information
• Accessible Transport
• Accessible Housing
• Good Practice in Employing Disabled People (Public and Private Sector)
• Good Practice in Employing Disabled People (Third Sector)
• Peer Support
• Overall Independent Living Initiative
• Young Entrepreneur – a new category to recognise the work and achievements of young disabled people under the age of 35
