Third Sector GTA awarded £300,000
12 January 2010
The tender submitted in the summer to the National Apprenticeship Service for the establishment of a Third Sector Group Training Association (GTA) has met with some success. The Association has been allocated £300,000 to be utilised by the end of March 2010 to develop the initiative.
- Overcoming negative perceptions of apprenticeships by the sector and supporting Skills-Third Sector in the development of appropriate apprenticeship frameworks that meet the needs of the sector.
- Promoting the benefits of apprenticeships to third sector employers through a range of events and media.
- Establishing the Group Training Association as a legal entity and, crucially, putting plans in place for its ongoing development and sustainability beyond March 2010.
- Enabling Third Sector providers to deliver apprenticeships.
- Providing/creating some apprenticeship bursaries to support Third Sector organisations in employing an apprentice, as paying a salary can be a significant barrier to many organisations.
