New VSNW Trustee - Simon Thorrington
11 January 2010
VSNW is pleased to welcome Simon Thorrington as a new member of our Board of Trustees, following the AGM in November.
Simon Thorrington ACIB is Charity Bank's Regional Director in the North, with a portfolio of client relationships and responsibility for strategic management across the north of England, having been with Charity Bank since 2006. Charity Bank is a member of the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) family. He also has overall responsibility for the Bank’s team and office in Yorkshire & Humberside, working in close partnership with the Regional Development Agency Yorkshire Forward.
Prior to this Simon spent 15 years with a major high street bank between 1975 and 1990, latterly as Corporate Lending Manager in Lancashire. Between 1990 and 2006 he worked for a faith charity, during which time he established and chaired the board of a regeneration charity over an eight year period, redeveloping, with a £5 million funding package, a redundant church site for the benefit of a massively deprived multi-faith community in Preston. This involved working closely with the North West Development Agency, Government Office North West, the two local authorities, Sport England and other partners.
Simon project-managed the development of a new charity in Preston addressing homelessness and worklessness between 2006 and 2009, and he continues to support it on a consultancy basis. Married with four grown up children, hobbies include fell-walking, running and photography.
