Raising the profile of equality and human rights work from the “Rural North West” in Cheshire and Cumbria
30 October 2009
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) aims to champion equality and human rights for all, work to eliminate discrimination, reduce inequality, protect human rights and build good relations, and ensure that everyone has a fair chance to participate in society. It has responsibility for seven 'protected groups' (age, disability, race or ethnicity, gender, transgender, religion or belief, and sexual orientation) as well as human rights.
Within the North West the Commission would like to further raise the profile of equality and human rights within rural communities especially newer mandate areas. We would like to support Voluntary Organisations to further progress their work on the equality and human rights agenda through providing capacity building on the key equality issues they identify.
They are looking for organisations to deliver either one or two exciting capacity development project(s) that will:
• Raise the profile and improve awareness of equality and human rights work in the “Rural North West”, in particular around Age, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Religion or Belief
• Explore the equality and human rights issues impacting rural areas
• Provide informative training on equality and human rights
• Encourage organisations to become actively engaged in equality issues
Download the project brief which includes information on how to submit a proposal.
