Mike Farrar, the Chief Executive of NHS NW, is the keynote speaker for VSNW's Conference & AGM which will take place on 12th November 2009 in Manchester. 

 

Mike Farrar is a forthright advocate of public engagement in NHS services, of the NHS' Transforming Communities agenda, of added social value, and of the need for local partnership across institutional, departmental and geographic boundaries. Given the possible large-scale impact on future funding for local social care services, Mike is keenly aware of the need for more coherent thinking about how PCTs, acute service providers and local authorities work together to create a more efficient balance between preventative, acute and recovery services.

 

Mike's leading insights into implementing strategic commissioning are relevant not just to those working in the fields of health and social care but to all of us looking to support better public services. Much of Mike's thinking is being reflected at a regional level in the development of the new regional strategy (RS2010) with its growing focus on wellbeing, healthy communities, and social capital.

 

Participants at VSNW's Conference & AGM will gain a very clear understanding of where the third and statutory sectors can agree and more importantly how we as a sector can clearly and persuasively articulate our business case to statutory sector colleagues.
