New housing and regeneration board for the region

4NW, the leaders' board for the North West, has established a new Housing and Regeneration Board, which will replace the current Regional Housing Group.
The new board aims to support the development and implementation of the regional strategy (RS2010), and the delivery of housing and regeneration across the North West. It is hoped the board will provide a focused approach which meets the needs of all key agencies working in this arena, in order to avoid overlap, duplication or repetition of effort.
The creation of the board follows the establishment of the national Homes and Communities Agency. The HCA's role is to create opportunity for people to live in high-quality, sustainable places. It provides funding for affordable housing, brings land back into productive use and works to improve quality of life by raising standards for people's physical and social environment, It is hoped that this work will be strengthened by the HCA being informed and influenced by the region, and the closer integration of housing and regeneration.
