In April 2009, eight senior NHS and third sector managers from North West England participated in a study tour to Heartland Health in the US state of Missouri. The group chose to visit Heartland because of its outstanding reputation as a leader in promoting community health and well being in economically deprived circumstances. In November, a team from Heartland Health will be participating in a study tour to NHS North West to learn about partnership initiatives in the region aimed at promoting community health and wellbeing – often also in deprived circumstances.Their visit will conclude with this event.
- Provide an opportunity to hear what both teams believe they have learned and how they are applying that learning to improve community health and well-being
- Highlight partnership initiatives in the North West that promote Social Value
- Compare the approach to delivering Social Value in the North West with that being pursued elsewhere in the country
- Showcase learning from the Missouri study tour for NHS and Third Sector Partners
- Compare UK and US approaches to partnership working to improve community health and well-being
- Discuss with an invited panel how Social Value can best contribute to national policy
