Government report looks at North West economic situation

More help is needed to get the North West region through the recession, according to a report from the North West Select Committee.
The report looks into the impact of the downturn on the region and welcomes the steps Government agencies, like Jobcentre Plus and Business Link, are taking to try to keep people in jobs and businesses afloat - but says more still needs to be done.

VSNW's submission to the hearing focused on the need for debt advice, and measures to support the voluntary and community sector (EV90 in the report).
The North West Development Agency has welcomed the report.
