Research
The North West Infrastructure Partnership has an annual budget of £20,000 to commission research. This funding forms part of VSNW's support for NWIP funded through the Lottery.
Year 1
In Year 1 (2009/10) of the Basis 2 project, NWIP commissioned research from the Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) looking into the value of grants in the North West: Demonstrating the Local Economic and Social Value of Grant-making with the VCS...
Year 2
In Year 2 (2010/2011), NWIP has commissioned the following two pieces of research:
Progressing Big Society
New Local Government Network (NLGN) are conducting this research which is expected to be launched in Westminster by Nick Hurd on 19th May 2011: research outline paper (to include a NW focus)
Equality, Localism and Big Society
Following a highly competitive tendering process a joint bid by the Centre for Local Policy Studies (CLPS) and CLES is now examining the impact of Government policy on voluntary sector equalities groups in the North West. There will be a series of roundtables in May seeking to understand the impact on equalities strands across the North West and gain a more in-depth understanding through three case-study areas.

- This research is supported by a steering group that consists of: Louise Barry (Merseyside Disability Federation and NW Disability Infrastructure Partnership), Heather Williams (Lesbian and Gay Foundation), Dan Silver (One North West), Dr Catherine Walker (Directory of Social Change), and Warren Escadale (VSNW).
- Drawn from the research findings and a roundtable session facilitated by 1NW and CLES, New Start magazine have published a headline article: 'All Remaining Unequal' (21st April 2011)
