In Year 2 (2010/2011), NWIP has commissioned the following two pieces of research:

Equality, Localism and Big Society
Following a highly competitive tendering process a joint bid by the Centre for Local Policy Studies (CLPS) and CLES is now examining the impact of Government policy on voluntary sector equalities groups in the North West. There will be a series of roundtables in May seeking to understand the impact on equalities strands across the North West and gain a more in-depth understanding through three case-study areas.

  • Outline of the research project which is project-managed by Stuart Speeden, Director of CLPS
  • This research is supported by a steering group that consists of: Louise Barry (Merseyside Disability Federation and NW Disability Infrastructure Partnership), Heather Williams (Lesbian and Gay Foundation), Dan Silver (One North West), Dr Catherine Walker (Directory of Social Change), and Warren Escadale (VSNW).
  • Drawn from the research findings and a roundtable session facilitated by 1NW and CLES, New Start magazine have published a headline article: 'All Remaining Unequal' (21st April 2011)
