Voluntary Sector North West
St. Thomas Centre
12 January 2011 10:30 - 13:00
British Council, Manchester
How equal is the Government's fairness-based approach to equality? What are the burning issues for the North West?
The focus of the next cross-sectoral NW Equality & Diversity Group (NW E&DG) meeting will be to assess the impact of Government policy and practice on equality groups, communities and work in the North West.
This will enable the NW E&DG to have a full understanding of the issues arising so that we can act as an effective voice for equality. This will also give us hard evidence and examples so that we can further input into consultations, current research projects, and national structures of Government like EHRC, the Government Office for Equalities and of course Government Departments.
Keynote speaker: Anna Coote, New Economics Foundation and author of Cutting It: the 'Big Society' and the new austerity. Anna will provide an analysis of the opportunities and threats of the 'Big Society' vision, and how it will effect businesses, the third sector and democracy: NW PRESENTATION
We will also hear from:
The meeting is open to all who are active in driving forward equality in the North West.
