Community Empowerment Practitioners' Forum
2 June 2010 10:00 - 03:00
St Thomas Centre, Ardwick Green North, Manchester, M12 6FZ
This meeting of the regional third sector network will identify future strategic direction particularly in light of the election and the impact of likely public sector funding reviews.
The network will be asked to consider the following key issues
- will local authorities bypass voluntary and community sector empowerment practice?
- to what extent will new public sector city-region / sub regional agencies consider the need to engage with communities?
- how should the recently drafted Regional Empowerment Partnership's (North West Together We Can) targets for 2010/11 be delivered?
- how will the third sector be involved in regenerating communities as outlined in the draft Regional Strategy (RS2010)?
- and what of new Government policy: how will the third sector be involved in “building stronger communities”?
Network discussions will partly form the context for developing a plan for action.
VSNW is now contracting Carol Latham to work the equivalent of one day per week as Regional Empowerment Practitioners' Forum Lead and this network meeting will help determine the direction of Carol's work on behalf of the Forum and support VSNW's aim to influence the development and implementation of government policy on behalf of the third sector in the North West.
